Hong Kong Pop 60+
Hong Kong Pop 60+ is a permanent gallery created for the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. It tells the story of Hong Kong’s popular culture blossoming from the boundless creativity sparked by the post-war baby boom and economic take-off, cultural exchanges with other regions, and talented and adventurous Hong Kong artists. In tandem with the growth of mass media, this exhibition shares about how trends in Hong Kong popular culture evolved – becoming a unique and iconic shared experience treasured by the Hong Kong people and fans all over the globe.
The exhibition is developed into four sections, beginning with the historical beginnings of Hong Kong’s popular culture influenced by cultural convergence. The second section shares about shared experiences that built deep sense of belonging amongst locals, followed by the third section that deep dives into popular culture through the art forms of film, music and television. The exhibition culminates in the final section that crowd sources popular culture of meaningful value to the Hong Kong public in all its various forms.
